What is builders insurance?

When working from the ground up, there are plenty of hazards along the way that could result in claims and compensation. You may be an expert in health and safety practices, but sometimes, even the best preparation can fall short. Employees can fall off ladders and hurt themselves. Bricks can fall on people and vehicles, damaging them. Electrical work can go haywire. Whether you build houses, commercial property or extensions, we can help cover your business by finding personalised policies that meet your specific requirements. We are a Feefo platinum-award firm, and have access to some of the best insurers out there, so that you get the policy that protects you should the unexpected happen, so that no matter what, you’re always protected.

Finding the right builders insurance is simple. Just fill in our quote form, or ask for a call back, and we’ll speak at a time that suits you, and take you through our range of options.

What insurance should a builder have?

Goods in Transit Cover

Protecting your building materials and any related contents that assist in project creation, you’ll have replacements in no time, and no time to waste in hold ups or delays.

Plant and Tools Insurance

Damaged equipment and broken tools can make business operations difficult, so with this policy, you can protect them all.

Public Liability Insurance

Should a member of the public, customer or site visitor get injured, or have damage done to their property, you can be covered for up to £5m worth of damages, with higher levels available upon request.

Employers Liability insurance

Keeping your staff safe should be a number one priority, so if they hurt or injure themselves while working, or fall seriously ill, we can source cover of up to £10m worth of damages.

  • Do bricklayers need personal accident cover?

The short answer is no, but it is highly advisable to take it out. A bricklayer is exposed to various risks, and an accident or injury could leave you unable to work either temporarily or permanently. In the event of something like this happening, personal accident cover could provide you with the lifeline you need to maintain an income while you recuperate, or while you look for a new line of work.

  • Why does a bricklayer need insurance?

In any trade, there is a risk that your work (and things associated with it) could cause damage or harm to property or people. When this happens, and you are liable for the cost of the damage, having insurance that covers you will prevent you incurring substantial costs that could cause catastrophic damage to your business or personal finances. Having cover is the safest option for you.

How Builders Insurance works

Examples of Builders Insurance in action

Mother Nature Causes £40,000 Claim

A roofing contractor was hired to replace the roofing on a public building for a more efficient and updated roof. Two weeks into the job, there was a bad storm overnight and the roof wasn’t equipped to withstand its severity. Consequently, all the materials and work that had been put into the roof at that time were completely destroyed. As a tradesman in the building trade, the roofing contractor had taken out contract works insurance, and a good job too – the cost to replace the work that was lost exceeded £40,000.
